Photography is something I grew up with; my Father is a professional photographer and I spent a lot of my childhood on shoots and working in the darkroom. Starting in the world of film photography, learning to develop and print photographs, was probably the best training you could have. It gave me not only a technical knowledge but also an understanding of what makes a good photograph. I was 15 years old when I worked on my first photo shoot.
After leaving school I began working full time with my Father. The variety of clients gave a lot of experience in both studio and location shoots, as well as using different cameras from 35mm to halfplate.
Digital photography brought many changes but not in the basics of how to take a great photograph. I have used Photoshop for years, seeing it as a modern extension to the darkroom techniques we used before.
My photography has developed over the years and is something I constantly work to improve. I am always interested in seeing the latest photographic styles and Photoshop techniques.
I have always been lucky enough to work for clients in a wide range of areas and industries. This has allowed me to photograph everything, from buildings under construction to members of the Royal family. The areas I enjoy the most would be shooting portraits and features; interacting with people always produces interesting images.
Over the past few years social networking has also become a strong area of interest for me, allowing me to keep in touch with clients and share my photography with a larger audience.

All the best,
Photocoordinates was started in 1972 by Bob Vickers and two other photographers and was originally based at Fleet Lane just off Fleet Street. Early assignments included following the Formula One powerboat championships, often developing and printing images on site from a small van. As the client base grew they moved to a basement studio on Sloane Street. Being in this area led to a wide variety of photo shoots and interesting people visiting the studio.
As the other photographers moved on to their own pursuits, Bob’s son Dave joined the company full time around 1990.
The Sloane Street area was redeveloped and Photocoordinates moved to Union Street in Southwark where they stayed until 1997.
Dave Vickers took over the running of Photocoordinates in 2007 when Bob retired.
Over the 40 years Photocoordinates has been established they have worked for major companies covering a wide range of photographic assignments. The HISTORY gallery showcases the variety of work from that period.
The main areas of work today are magazine features, portraits, business and industry publications, corporate events and communications material.
All digital images are provided on ‘Photo CD’ or via ftp downloads making delivery of work quick and accessible.
Photocoordinates aims to provide a personal service to all of their clients to ensure they have the images they want in the format they need.
